The sun shone and there was a great deal of community spirit on show Sunday as hundreds of people pounded the streets for the annual Falmouth Race for Life.
People in pink took to the roads along Falmouth seafront in blazing sunshine walking, wheeling, running or jogging the 5km or 10km course in memory of loved ones lost to cancer.
The event raises money for Cancer Research UK and involved plenty of pink tutus and at least one very fine pink beard.
The race started and finished on Spernen Wyn Road outside the entrance to Gyllynvase Car Park. The course is on tarmac on the roads throughout Falmouth town centre.
Posting on Facebook the organisers said: âMy oh my, that was hot! But a great atmosphere at Falmouth's Cornwall Race for Life this morning.
âHundreds of people running, walking and wheeling around Falmouth seafront and Pendennis headland, everyone doing their race their way. Plenty of pink tutus and wigs on display and at least one very fine pink beard.
âShout out to the brilliant volunteers pointing the way and cheering us on. And a big thank you to the folks out in their gardens or out for a walk who clapped and encouraged us - it really does make a difference!â
Reece Jenkins came home first, while Ollie Badcock in Year 7 Penair School smashed his first 10k run at the Falmouth Race for Life completing it in 48 minutes and he finishing tenth!
