A Falmouth based food firm is celebrating after a growth in business meant it had to expand into bigger premises.

TrewFoods grew out of TrewCare, a supplier of care and support, social care and domestic services in Falmouth, Penryn, Camborne, Redruth, and surrounding areas.

Established in 1994 in Budock by Diane, a qualified nurse, and Stephen Dyckhoff, TrewCare is a family company, managed by Naomi Blackmore, Diane and Stephen’s daughter.

The company, a Cornish franchise of the UK’s leading frozen meals home delivery service Wiltshire Farm Foods, makes sure customers have nutritional and diet specific meals, specifically created to cater to their needs.

The company has grown from a single van covering the whole of Cornwall to five vans offering 25 rounds a week across the county. It currently delivers more than 10,000 meals and desserts to nearly 900, mostly elderly, customers and with the company increasing the number of deliveries it makes, it has been able to take on a full time apprentice, adding to the 15 people who make up the team.

The new premises also has a much larger cold store, allowing up to four times the capacity.

Staff and friends celebrated the successful move into the new new offices and warehouse on Tregoniggie Industrial Estate, with general manager Chris Wells paying tribute to the hard work and dedication of staff in making the business such a success.

The celebration also welcomed Falmouth’s MP Sarah Newton and Falmouth’s mayor Geoffrey Evans as the guests of honour.

Mr Evans said: “It is really good to see a business expanding, particularly when that success is for a company that helps so many people. The food looks delicious; I may take the brochure and order some myself.

Mrs Newton, who unveiled a plaque to mark the move, echoed the praise saying it was an honour to be invited to celebrate the success of a company that helped so many people stay in their own homes when they needed care and support.

“Your company does that, it is great to be able to celebrate such a good news story for Falmouth.”
