A group of Falmouth surf store staff went without their shoes recently to help raise awareness of children’s health and education.

The barefoot bunch, from Ann’s Cottage on Church Street, were taking part in an annual global event known as “One Day without Shoes” - organised by footwear company TOMS.

Nearly 150 staff from Ann’s Cottages stores across the county took part and encouraged customers to get involved by painting their feet and stamping on the “Pledge Wall,” which showcased their thoughts on how they could help to make a difference.

Company director Becci Cornelius said: “It’s the second year we have taken part in the day and yet again, the impact it had on our customers was huge. “Walking around barefoot sparks so many conversations and that really helps to spread the word for the millions of children in need.”

“Shoes help protect from cuts, diseases and infections, which affect 740 million people worldwide. They play a huge role in broader solutions to help keep children healthy and educated.”
