A NEW web portal is set to help local businesses who want to work in the emerging marine renewable energy (MRE) sector. The free portal provides businesses with mapping tools and reports that give a unique insight into the current status of the industry. It also signposts job seekers to further training that will support them entering the MRE jobs’ market.

“We’re proud to be launching this web portal at a critical time for this emerging industry; it will specifically help Cornish businesses learn of opportunities around the globe to help boost exports, energizing them to reach beyond our shores for work.” said Paul Holmes, Marine Renewable Energy Executive at Falmouth based Cornwall Marine Network (CMN).

CMN, the business support organisation for the Cornish marine industry, has been a key partner in the delivery of this portal which has been developed as part of an EU Interreg IVA funded project valued at €1,069,353. 12 other organisations formed the partnership, including universities, regional councils and other business support units across the UK and France.

The year long project has also supported Cornish businesses to attend and network at MRE industry exhibitions and conferences in the UK and France. It concluded with a final event in Norwich where more than 100 businesses were presented with detailed information about the MRE industry and participated in workshops to improve their knowledge of the sector.
