CORNISH housing association Coastline Housing has appointed Allister Young as its new chief executive officer.

Allister first joined Coastline as director of finance in April 2012 and has also served as interim chief executive since last October. During his time as director of finance, Coastline has seen significant improvement in financial performance and has secured new long term funding arrangements at record low interest levels. He also brings a strong understanding of the issues facing Coastline’s customers and a commitment to high standards of customer service.

His previous roles include assistant director of finance at the Peabody Trust, specialising in new projects and corporate finance; director of finance and resources at Tree Aid, an African development charity; and finance director at Bristol Community Housing Foundation. He qualified as a chartered accountant within the commercial division of PricewaterhouseCoopers in London.

Derek Law MBE, group chairman of Coastline Housing, said: “The appointment is excellent news for Coastline and its customers as Allister will combine his existing knowledge of the organisation, its mission and its culture, with a clear vision and energy for how to build on Coastline’s excellent work and continue to take the organisation forward. We believe he will be a great asset to Coastline and its customers.”

Allister said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as Coastline’s new chief executive. Coastline is a great organisation that has a track record of delivering outstanding services for its customers, and in developing the new homes so needed in Cornwall. It is a privilege to be given the chance to lead such an organisation and to be tasked with taking it forward to further successes”.

In his new role, Allister will head an organisation which owns and maintains 4,000 homes across Cornwall, employs more than 200 staff locally and has an annual turnover of £24million.
