The Boathouse in Falmouth has won acclaim for its excellent bar team. The co-owner Nick Goodall and his team have been named as winner of the title Best Bar Team 2015 for the South West region in the Great British Pub Awards 2015.

The pub saw off competition from dozens of other pubs in the region to take the title. The awards are organised by leading pub industry magazine, the Publican’s Morning Advertiser, whose editor Ed Bedington, said: “The award recognises a bar team that works effectively to drive the pub’s drink sales and delivers an excellent customer experience.”

The judges commented on the team members’ personal and individual approach to customers, with great staff knowledge of the products and the team’s ethos to creating and inputting new ideas into the business. The Boathouse will now go head to head with six other regional winners to compete for the UK title Best Bar Team 2015 and also have the chance to compete for the champions of champions title of Great British Pub of the Year 2015.

The news comes just weeks after The Boathouse was awarded with a Certificate of Excellence by, Tripadvisor.

Nick Goodall said: “We’re delighted to be recognised in these awards. To be named Best Bar Team in the South West is testimony to the hard work the team puts in day-in-day-out to make The Boathouse a great place for locals and tourists alike to enjoy the hospitality that a Great British pub can, and should, offer.”

The Great British Pubs Awards will be held at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London, on Thursday, September 10.
