WHETHER they were filming sharks in Australia or polar bears in the Subarctic, Michael Wafer and Poppy Chandler always wanted to settle in Cornwall.
Mike and Poppy set up Outpost Pictures, a new independent media production company, earlier this month. They specialise in producing corporate and branded films, video content for websites, internal communications for corporate clients and TV documentaries.
Poppy Chandler, ex-Falmouth University student and Outpost Pictures’ co-director, believes their strength lies in personalised story-telling approach.
“Whether it’s online films, ad-funded programming or social media content, we use our global experience to create a film that will work hard for our clients business in today’s evolving media landscape,” she says.
“We get to know our clients and use our knowledge and expertise to bring their stories to life.”
Emma Sabins, their first client and owner of Cornish artisan coffee brand, Sabins Coffee, is thrilled by the high level of response a video Outpost Pictures made generated.
“The film has had a hugely positive response for Sabins Coffee,” she says cheerfully.
“And has really achieved our goal of getting the Sabins Coffee name out there, to a wider audience.”
Mike Wafers, Outpost Pictures’ co-director, predicts that video content will soon be a paramount tool for businesses aiming to raise their brand awareness and engagement with clients.
“We understand how a powerful film can give a business or brand an opportunity to communicate directly with their target audience,” he says.
“With video content thriving more than ever, and expected soon that 90% of all web traffic will be video, it’s hardly surprising that businesses are scrambling to keep up with what their clients expect when visiting their sites.”
