A new state-of-the-art drive-in film and photography studio is launching in Redruth and to celebrate, Figolux will be opening its doors for all to come and see what’s on offer on Tuesday, September 29.

The image creation studio, Figolux, is a new purpose-built drive-in studio and one of the largest in Devon and Cornwall. Available for commissions or to hire, it also features top of the range specialist lighting equipment and cameras to cater for all professional film and photography requirements, and is one of few studios west of London to offer 360-degree photography.

On Tuesday, Figolux, on Treleigh Industrial Estate, is hosting an open-day between 11am and 8pm. Production companies, creative agencies, photographers, businesses and media are all invited to drop-in and find out more about the exciting new 5,000 square foot studio and its experienced photographers.

Representatives from two of the leading international photography equipment manufacturers, Hasselblad and Broncolor, will be at the open day. They will be showcasing a range of the world’s finest technical camera equipment, lighting and flash systems to try. There will also be free coffee and snacks.

Owner of Figolux, freelance sports, news and editorial photographer Andrew McLean Brown, has returned to Cornwall with the new venture after ten years in France where he captured some the world’s greatest sporting events, including Six-Nations Rugby, Champions League Football and Tour de France, for international publications.

He said: “We’re really excited to open the doors to what we believe is the best studio offering, available in Devon and Cornwall. The Westcountry is becoming increasingly popular with television and film production companies and the region is home to many leading national lifestyle, food, drink, hospitality and leisure brands – all of which we hope to work with.

"We offer the convenience of London quality facilities and services at very competitive rates - so brands, businesses and creative agencies can now look within the county for services such as the 360-degree photography and a versatile drive-in film studio that can accommodate very large vehicles.

“We very much look forward to meeting fellow industry professionals, businesses and brands at our open day next week and to working with them in the future.”

John Isaac, an experienced Cornwall-based photographer who specialises in fashion, product and editorial photography, joins Andrew at Figolux. John’s work includes commissions for top national brands such as Fila and Russell Athletic and many leading publications including Vogue, The Times and The Telegraph.

Figolux, which translates to ‘fix the light,’ is available for commissions, collaborations or to hire for both studio-based or on-locations shoots. It can also provide stylists - people or product, make up artists, image re-touching, workshops and training facilities.
