Around 200 people accepted an invitation from the Falmouth Gurkha Cuisine restaurant on The Moor to join
in the celebrations for the Great Bijaya Dashami, which is a 15 day national festival in Nepal.
The party in Falmouth was organised by restaurant director Iswar Shrestha, Ritu Shrestha and Ajaya Shrestha and was hosted by Leeza Shrestha. The guest of honour on the evening was Falmouth town councillor Patricia Minson who was joined by many other local people as well as others from across England.
The event started off with puja, prayers for good health, happiness and good fortune, and continued with a cultural dance show, fireworks, a game of musical chairs and a performance by local singer, Ross.
The Gurkha team has thanked Mrs Minson for her "beautiful speech" about the Nepalese cultures, festivals, the restaurant's relationship with Falmouth over the past 11years and also the 200-year-old of relationship between Britain and Nepal.
"The Gurkha team would like to thank all who attended on the day to celebrate the festival with us," said Ritu.
