Time has flown by for the owner of Sweetpea & Betty in Falmouth who cannot quite believe it was five years ago this week that she opened in High Street.

"It's been an amazing five years, full of much laughter and hilarity along the way," said Mary Gander. "Over the five years we have specialised in running creative workshops predominantly with the chalk paint furniture painting but also with other artists combining their expertise and skills.

"Artist Val Sangster and textile designer Hayley Martos both work in the shop and teach creative chalk paint and lampshade workshops regularly. These have been really popular over the years. My most recent addition to the team is Judy Osman, who is always experimenting in using the chalk paint to dye fabrics and is a whizz on the sewing machine making curtains and bunting too.

"Together we offer a huge variety of expertise for our customers, many of which we have now known for years and have become good friends. It's often been commented on that there's a lovely energy in the shop. I think we're known as being a little eccentric, obsessed with colour and creativity and cake is never far away."

As the business celebrates its anniversary, Mary has thanked all her customers for their loyal support over the years. "Throughout the five years we've developed our website and on line shop and just recently had our first click and collect customer," she said. "All very exciting as we have many plans to develop our website and workshops over the next five years."
