Falmouth University illustration graduate Rachael Saunders is the talent behind London-based brand Radley’s latest limited edition Christmas picture bag.

Freelance illustrator Rachael, who graduated from Falmouth University last year, was approached by the senior designer at Radley during her degree show at New Designers in London.

She said: “This was one of my very first official commissions and I was delighted that it was with such a high exposure and esteemed company like Radley. The commission was all done via phone and email. I was sent the design brief, created some roughs and these were then pitched to the team at Radley.

“A design was then chosen to develop further and then it went on to final artwork. All this was completed during my summer last year in Falmouth, very ironic as it was a Christmas bag. I was then sent updates of the manufacturing process as the bag was being made. They were a fabulous company to work for and really nurtured my ideas and creativity.”

Rachael’s design features Scottie dog Radley and his object of affection cosying up in a festive scene. Rachael added: “There are some very exciting projects in the pipeline which I am afraid I can't say too much about. I am thankful to say that I am very busy indeed which has been an utter blessing having only graduated a short time ago. I wouldn't have got to where I am today without the help of Falmouth University and its wonderful tutors.”
