The Headland Hotel and Spa has become the first hotel in Cornwall to achieve WorldHost recognised business status.

The iconic Newquay hotel is the latest organisation in the country to gain the national status, adding to its many accolades and demonstrating the importance the team place on giving all their guests the best experience possible.

And The Headland is now hoping this is the first step in achieving WorldHost Destination status for Newquay.

Afra Hope, junior assistant manager at the hotel, said: “We are very proud to have been the first hotel in Cornwall to achieve WorldHost recognition. We have displayed the plaque in our reception area to exhibit our passion and commitment for providing exceptional guest experiences.

“The WorldHost training has been a lot of fun, and has helped the team work together and collaborate ideas in promoting excellence.”

To achieve the WorldHost Recognised Business status, businesses must train 50 per cent or more of their front line staff using any of the specialist training programmes and sign a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.

With 63 of its staff trained to these high standards, the Headland Hotel and Spa officially became a WorldHost Recognised Business this month.

The hotel’s WorldHost recognition certificate is now valid for two years and is renewable on completion of a refresher course. In order to preserve the value of the WorldHost recognition, the programme may be monitored through impromptu mystery shopper visits.
