We Are Cornwall, the Penryn-based service set up to promote the county and its many businesses to locals and visitors alike, is celebrating its first birthday.

Having launched the We are Cornwall website on St Piran’s Day 2015, after a successful crowdfunding campaign, the SBPR team behind the initiative are delighted with how their first year has gone. As well as developing and improving the site, activities have included running workshops, writing twice weekly blogs, weekly newsletters, running competitions and doing a lot of social media.

“It’s been a busy year but we’re really pleased with how everything is going,” said managing director Sue Bradbury, who runs the company alongside the long-established SBPR communications agency. “We wanted to provide an insiders’ guide to the county, showcasing Cornwall’s towns and villages, beaches, landmarks, places to stay, things to do, food and drink and Cornish creations.

“Most important of all, our aim is to encourage locals to explore what’s on their own doorstep and support Cornish enterprise, especially out of school holidays. Our workshops are designed to help Cornish businesses collaborate too and, in the next 12 months, we’re planning a lot more.”
