Penryn teenager Jordan Ciacci has joined the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce as a marketing and social media apprentice.

The 19-year-old is already managing the chamber’s social media accounts and email bulletins, and recently delivered on his first lunch event. From next month he will plan, organise and deliver the organisation’s BIG Breakfasts, and play a key role in the day to day running of the marketing and events department.

Katie Wild, marketing and events manager at the chamber, said: “I was very dubious about taking on an apprentice due to the time I would need to invest, but Jordan has shown just how competent apprentices can be and he is a huge asset to the team.

“He has taken to the work like a duck to water and at just 19 he has digital skills that I don’t have, which will prove invaluable to the chamber.”

Jordan said: “To start my career with the chamber is such a big achievement. I am surrounded by a great team who are extremely supportive and I know they will help me every step of the way during my apprenticeship.

“It’s clear already that this job will open so many doors and give me fantastic opportunities. I have to pinch myself every day to be sure that I really am tweeting and designing emails for a living.”

Over the past three months the chamber has held a series of apprenticeships events in schools across the county and will continue to support the Duchy’s MPs with their "100 in 100" campaign to secure apprenticeship pledges from businesses.
