Penryn furniture store Christie's will be holding a sale from Friday, April 1, before it closes for refurbishment which will create almost double the floor space.

The store will be offering up to 80 per cent off in an attempt to clear all of its stock before closing on April 18 for just over a month.

Owner Peter Blell said the store would be "one of the largest furniture stores in Cornwall" when it reopens at the end of May.

The work will see a new first floor installed, meaning there will be twice the space and allowing the store to showcase twice the amount of furniture it currently offers.

Mr Blell said: "We are going to have increased ranges of sofas, a large leather sofa gallery, and our new first floor will will be dedicated to beds and bedroom furniture. Actually we will be one of the largest bed centres anywhere in Cornwall."
