Rowe’s and Tesco join forces to support RNLI

Cornish baker Rowe’s has teamed up with Tesco this summer to help support the RNLI across the south west. A delicious chocolate chip and orange biscuit, produced especially for the RNLI, is now on the shelves in over 70 Tesco stores around the region with 10p from the sale of every pack of biscuits going to the lifesaving charity.

Rowe’s bakery, based in Penryn, and Tesco came up with the idea of a partnership to help in the local community, and felt the RNLI was the natural choice to support.

The biscuits, priced at £1 per packet, are now in store and on sale in a total of 77 stores across the south west, in stores in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset and Hampshire. For every pack of RNLI branded chocolate chip and orange biscuits sold, Tesco and Rowe’s will jointly donate 10p to the RNLI.

Joe Chapman, Tesco Communications Manager in the South West, says:

'We know how much our customers in the south west care, not only about the important work of the RNLI on our south west coastline, but also about buying quality food locally. That's why we're delighted to be working in partnership with our local supplier Rowe's to bring our customers these really tasty biscuits and raise money for the RNLI in the process in over 70 of our south west stores.'

Libby Ball, Marketing Manager at Rowe’s, continues: ‘There are many worthwhile good causes, but the RNLI is one close to our hearts. Due to our location on the coast, the opportunity to raise money to help support and develop the fantastic work they carry out in keeping the public safe on our beaches and in our waters was one we wanted to support as best we can.’

The biscuit packaging will feature an RNLI Shannon class lifeboat and the charity’s logo and will be displayed on a custom designed stand to promote the partnership.

In June, RNLI volunteers will be visiting a number of stores in Cornwall and Somerset to fundraise and share important beach and sea safety advice with customers. Roadshow dates and locations will be announced closer to the time.

Emma Henderson, RNLI Community Corporate Manager, adds: ‘We’re delighted that Tesco and Rowe’s have selected to support the RNLI in the south west this summer. Our volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguards are only able to carry out their lifesaving work thanks to the generosity of our supporters and corporate relationships such as this, and we hope this partnership will raise donations and increase awareness of the vital work the RNLI does around the coast to keep people safe.’
