Visitors to this year’s Porthleven Food and Music Festival got to work up an appetite at a charity crockery smash.
The fundraising event, organised by Classic Cottages, saw festival goers hurling balls at a variety of crockery all set up beautifully on a traditional Welsh dresser.
The crockery, which was either chipped or slightly damaged, was unable to be used in Classic’s cottages and unable to be sold at the local Children’s Hospice shop.
“This is the second year we have organised the crockery smash. It’s quite an unusual idea but a great way of turning damaged items into much needed funds. People seem to really enjoy it – it must be a slightly guilty pleasure!” - Suzanne Dexter, property manager Classic Cottages
At the end of the day the smash raised £250 for Children's Hospice South West.
Bernadette Chambers, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser for CHSW said “On behalf of all of the children and families that we support I would like to thank the team at Classic Cottages for raising such a fantastic amount of money for CHSW. It was such a creative fundraising idea and obviously caught the imaginations of people who wanted to take part, thanks to everyone who got involved.”
