The refurbishment of a Falmouth opticians will provide residents with state-of-the-art eyecare.

The newly renovated Specsavers store in Market Street, boasts a fresh new look for staff and customers, including the addition of a dedicated hearing room, an upgraded sophisticated fundus camera and extra testing rooms. The store now has five rooms, one of which is a contact lens room and another is dedicated to private and NHS hearing services.

The re-fit has expanded the store’s capacity to test patients and the increased space allows for a greater range of glasses to be displayed. The new fundus camera, a photographic tool with a high magnifying lens, can be used to detect early signs of diabetes. The test takes as little as 30 seconds and can alert patients to a need for treatment sooner rather than later.

Store director, Gillian Sanguinette, said: ‘We would like to thank our customers for their continued support and we look forward to welcoming them in for all their optical and hearing needs. Our customers are always our number one priority and the refit is designed around enhancing our services and improving their experience in store.

"Although we have a new look, we have all the same faces in store and the team are looking forward to continuing to provide a friendly, professional service."

Specsavers in Falmouth also celebrated a number of other milestones recently. The store employs 23 members of staff, with eight of them having worked there for over ten years. Among the longest serving members of staff is Paul McGrane who passed the ten year mark as store director last December. The store also bid a fond farewell to Maree Moore who recently retired after 20 years’ service and congratulated Charlotte Crerar on qualifying as a contact lens optician.
