Running on the last Tuesday of each month, the Falmouth BID is launching a range of free monthly business workshops covering a wide variety of business-related topics to further help support and upskill Falmouth’s businesses and their staff.

Covering topics such as digital marketing, retail design, finance, funding and employment law, Love Falmouth Love Business sessions will be available to hundreds of Falmouth BID businesses on a first-come, first-served basis.

Partnering with numerous Cornwall-based organisations, all experts in their field, the BID businesses in Falmouth will have the opportunity to benefit from a huge range of expertise and advice, and thanks to the generosity of Falmouth Marine School, the venue will be their state-of-the-art recently refurbished premises on Killigrew Street in the town.

The first free session on Tuesday, September 27, from 6pm to 7.30pm will cover two topics, employment/HR law and pension auto-enrolment. Experts from Stephens Scown solicitors - Verity Slater, a partner in their employment team and Mark Roby, HR adviser - and James Hodgson, managing partner at Hodgsons Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors, will be in attendance to outline the latest employment/HR practices and the law, as well as practical details on the recently introduced Government Pensions Auto-enrolment scheme.

Richard Wilcox, Falmouth BID manager said: “We have an eclectic and vibrant business scene in Falmouth with managers and owners passionate about what they do. It is of course one of the key reasons why Falmouth holds such appeal to visitors, residents, investors and students alike. And so we work to support their business plans, aspirations and ambitions with a range of innovative projects and ideas. The Love Falmouth Love Business initiative is a partner-led approach to business upskilling and training and one that we are excited to offer to our BID businesses.”

Falmouth BID director Sara Pugh and director of Falmouth-based marketing agency Eight Wire added: “From new trends in marketing to ever-changing legislation, the business landscape is constantly evolving. Love Falmouth Love Business training will enable local business to keep their fingers on the pulse of change whilst providing the opportunity to up-skill employees.”

Justin Olosunde, head of Falmouth Marine School, said: “I am delighted to be able to provide a venue for this initiative and support the local business community. Falmouth BID is making a real difference in Falmouth and we want to support in any way we can.”
