A Penryn based mapping company has become the first Cornish business to be shortlisted for this year's Rural Business Awards.

Clear Mapping Company has been nominated as finalists in the Best Rural Creative or Media Based Business category of the awards, run in partnership with the Country Landowners Association (CLA), which aim to give recognition to businesses operating across the rural economy.

Clear Mapping entered the awards with a map which provides a gold-standard customer service solution for touring and caravan sites, by integrating a site map into Helston based holiday company Anytime Booking's online system.

The system was used for Little Winnick Touring Park, creating a detailed, accurate site map online which guests can then use to book a pitch or see the available dates.

Caroline Robinson of Clear Mapping Company said: “Winning our category would be marvellous. We would love to celebrate with lovely English sparkling wine from fellow finalists, Denbie's Greenfields. Feeling thirsty already.”

The rural Business Awards are organised by rural businesses for rural businesses and judged by people who understand the rural sector. Thirteen award categories will be decided by an independent panel of judges drawn from the rural business sector, official agencies and rural charitable organisations.

Clear Mapping wished the best of luck to fellow south west finalists Otter Brewery, Dartington Hall and JRM Agricultural Services.

The award ceremony takes place on October 13 at The Belfry Resort and Spa in the west midlands.
