MP George Eustice recently visited European Spring & Pressings in Redruth when he was given a tour around the rapidly growing business.

The tour was preceded by a meeting with representatives from the Cornwall Manufacturing Group including Bott, Teagle, DP Engineering and WES Engineering Solutions, to discuss and raise awareness to the minister of the value of the county’s £800m industry.

Mr Eustice said: “Cornwall Manufacturing Group does a wonderful job of encouraging and assisting the development of manufacturing in Cornwall. The switch of emphasis towards manufacturing is feeding into an economic revival in areas like Camborne and Redruth. We must support manufacturing businesses, and be willing to lend a hand to those companies which have a proven track record and might achieve a lot more with targeted help on things like developing export markets and research and development.”

Michael Gibbs, MD of European Springs & Pressings, added: “It was an honour to show George around the factory, for him to meet the team, see our new showroom and to understand the level of investment we, and other members of the Cornwall Manufacturing Group, deliver to the local economy.

"European funding afforded us the opportunity to invest in the business, responding to market demands which has led to exponential growth in turnover. It was really insightful to be able to discuss post-Brexit issues, grants and elements of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy with the minister and we look forward to continuing discussions with him.”

George Eustice left with a new brochure, developed by the Cornwall Manufacturers Group, aimed at school leavers highlighting the rewarding career engineering and manufacturing offers throughout the Duchy.
