Falmouth Road Runners has passed their thanks onto supporters and sponsors this week following the annual mob match race around Pendennis.

Specsavers Falmouth provided sponsorship for the five mile road race, which took place on Sunday, November 27, around Pendennis Point, Swanpool and Gyllyngvase beach.

The company sponsored the runners’ numbers and provided a large gazebo to register competitors, although the high winds at the weekend meant this could not be used.

Specsavers Falmouth store director Paul McGrane said: "Well done to everyone who took part in the mob match, the weather was not particularly kind but that didn’t stop any of the runners putting their all into the race.

"We’re keen to support local clubs and help more people get out and enjoy our beautiful Cornish countryside while keeping fit. Needless to say you can still run in glasses or if you prefer there’s contact lenses."

Specsavers Falmouth also sponsors the club's three mile scheme for novice runners, and Road Runners chair and Specsavers Falmouth optometrist Julianne Hellyer said: "We have been able to get even more runners on the road this year with our three mile scheme.

"The aim is to help novices run three miles in a certain period of time. Thanks to Specsavers Falmouth sponsorship we can also reward every individual’s achievement with a medal and water bottle."
