Simply Cornish, the retail brand of Warrens Bakery, received a Christmas treat in the form of an accolade of Tastiest Non-Supermarket Christmas Pudding by national magazine Country Life.

The company's legendary Christmas pudding beat off stiff competition from fourteen other finalists including Harrods’ Decadent Christmas Pudding which was placed second.

Praise for the popular pud included ‘utterly delicious’, ‘tastes just like Christmas’ and ‘Christmas pudding as it should be.’

Made using Cornish stout, the indulgent traditional pudding is crafted using the finest juicy fruit, rich butter, warm spices and brandy which are then matured, creating a mouth-watering taste and texture.

Mark Sullivan, chairman of Simply Cornish and Warrens Bakery said: “Our Christmas pudding has always been extremely popular, both in the UK and internationally. This accolade from Country Life is a huge honour and reflects the hard work and dedication that our bakery team put into making our products on a daily basis.

Our first store outside of the west is due to open in the Midlands in early 2017.”

Warrens Bakery’s hard work since 1860 has seen them receive a long list of accolades for their pasties and artisan sweet bakes. In 2015 they were recognised in the prestigious Craft Business Award in the Baking Industry Awards 2015 and this year they won a haul of awards at the 2016 British Pie Awards and the World Pasty Championships.
