Stars of Helston Theatre Company’s (HTC) pantomime, Cinderella, officially opened the town's latest business, Specsavers, at 39 Meneage Street.

The Ugly Sisters watched on while Cinderella prepped for her chance meeting with Prince Charming by selecting a new pair of glasses from the store’s extensive range of fashionable eye wear.

Optician and store director, Gillian Sanguinette, said: "We’re delighted to join the thriving Helston business community. We have to say thank you to Helston Theatre Company for sending Cinderella and the Ugly Sisters to help us celebrate our opening. They certainly made a scene on their stroll up through the town."

Local families were also treated to a guest appearance from the Gruffalo who posed for photographs outside the new store.

Joint store director, Paul McGrane, added: "Helston is a great town, which is currently experiencing a period of growth and success. With the opening of several new businesses in the past 12 months and the confirmed housing and business developments, we are delighted to offer even more eye health services to the local community.

"It’s been very busy since we initially took over the property in Meneage Street with recruiting a new team and training everyone, but the hard work is already paying off and we look forward to a promising year ahead."

HTC’s production of Cinderella is on at the Epworth Hall, Coinagehall Street, from January 24 to 29. Tickets are available from Gillian’s Larder at 4 Meneage Street or online at crbo.co.uk/.
