Cornwall Chamber of Commerce launched the Chamber Innovation Investment Network (CIIN) during Cornwall Business Week. In conjunction with Plymouth University’s Innovation Centres and Mylor Ventures, free investment readiness events will take place to prepare a shortlist of companies seeking investment from Business Angels.

There is a strong appetite from these Business Angels for local investments and companies in all sectors are encouraged to attend. The support available is not limited to finance and could include: expert strategic direction for your business, mentoring and non-executive directorship

The dates of the next investment readiness events are: July 6 at the Health and Wellbeing Innovation Centre and September 25 at the Tremough Innovation Centre in Penryn. The shortlist of companies will then present to Business Angels in late October.

Kim Conchie, chief executive of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, said: “We formed powwow as a group of angel investors, potential NEDs and mentors who wanted to invest and advise Cornish businesses and start-ups. The Chamber Innovation Investment Network gives these investors, who want to make a return but who also want Cornwall & Scilly to prosper, access to businesses who have been through Mylor Ventures’ Investment Readiness Workshop. I hope it will unleash some private expertise and finance into the business support landscape in Cornwall”
