Cornish fashion store Ann’s Cottage Surf Shop has just been announced as one of the lucky nominees for the Young Fashion Retailer of the Year category of this year’s Drapers Fashion Awards.
Celebrating the very best in the fashion industry, to be nominated for such an award signifies that they are at the top of their game.
Ann's Cottage started life in 1978 as a small shop, which was part of a petrol filling station in Polzeath.
The Ann’s Cottage emporium now has eight surf shops around Cornwall, including one in Falmouth.
Drapers is the market leading fashion trade magazine and a key resource for the UK fashion industry. The Drapers Fashion Awards recognise and celebrate the very best from the catwalk to the high street, having been selected across a range of categories by a panel of experts.
Director Becci Cornelius said, “We are so proud to have been nominated for this award.
“The product I buy is inspired by the community I live in, the places I go and the people that surround me.
“At Ann’s Cottage we aim to create a space that communicates to surfers but one that won’t make non-surfers feel intimidated.
“It’s important to us that we create a relaxed space where people can come and interact with each of the brands within our portfolio and be inspired, this nomination recognises the fact that we are well on our way to achieving our goal.”
Whether they win will be decided by a group of the industry’s top experts and announced at the prestigious Drapers Fashion Awards ceremony on Wednesday, November 21 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
Owner Rob Harris added: “Not only do Ann's Cottage take great pride in their surfing heritage and connection to the beach in Cornwall but are very proud of our stores and how we buy and present each season.”
