Wendron hold on after trailing

WENDRON CC recovered from a 3-2 deficit to defeat Mullion FC 6-3 last week and hold on to their lead at the top of division one of the West Cornwall Winter Pool League.

Helston FC A have closed the gap to two points after an 8-1 win over Helston RBL B, while Porthleven FC won 5-4 against Helston RBL F in the fight for third spot.

At the bottom Andy Mccormack, Mick Povey, John Cunliffe and Dave Morris won their singles for the Mounts Bay as they defeated the Seven Stars 6-3 and Helston RFC A lost 6-3 to Paris B. The Bell Inn made up for a defeat earlier in the season by the Rodney by beating them 5-4 and they lead division two by three points with a game in hand.

Paul Martin, Martyn Athay, Robert Smith, Stuart Athay and Tony Woodhams all won for the Harbour as they defeated White Hart C 7-2. This allowed Helston RBL E to move into second spot as they defeated Praa Sands Golf Club 6-3.

Three Tuns A won 6-3 against Paris A.

The top two did not play in division three, but elsewhere. Mounts Bay A defeated the Tophouse 6-3 and Helston FC B defeated Lizard FC B by the same score.

Wins from Treeve Sullivan, Mark Rogers, Si Mackett and Matt Hall helped Crown Inn B to a 7-2 win over the Queens Arms. White Hart D defeated Gweek C by the same score.

Helston RFC B edged out the Lion and Lamb B 5-4 to lead division four, but the Rodney B team gained some ground with an 8-1 win over the Harbour and have a game in hand.

Kent Green, Chris Williams, Doug Hastings and Simon Strong all won for Helston RBL D as they defeated Red Lion 6-3, while the Queens Arms defeated Seven Stars B 7-2.

In the team knockout, Three Tuns A from the second division shocked high flying Helston FC A by beating them 5-4 in the quarter finals. Helston RBL A defeated the Beehive 5-1 and Helston RBL E defeated White Hart C.
