STAFF at Falmouth School have raised their glasses in celebration after receiving a glowing report from Ofsted inspectors.

The Ofsted inspectors said: "This is a good school with outstanding features that has made very good improvements since the previous inspection under the very effective leadership of the head teacher and the governing body. The out standing feature of the school is the dedication of its teachers and teaching assistants and the very high quality care of its pupils, in conjunction with many external agencies that work closely with the school."

All of the staff at the 1,200-pupil school gathered in the staff room on Friday to raise a glass of wine to each other over their achievements.

Headteacher Sandra Critchley said: "It is fantastic that the school has had such a good report after all the hard work that has been put in. The team have worked really hard and I would like to thank everybody the staff, governors, pupils and parents for their support. We as a school look forward to further suc cess in the future.

"This is a good school with outstanding features "The community can be proud to know that it has a good school at its heart.

The report has come at an exciting time for the school. It is good for people in the area that schools like ours and Penryn College are managing to turn things around and provide great schools for the children in the area."

Ofsted said that, to improve further, the school should use established sys tems of monitoring and training to bring the overall quality of teaching up to the standard of the best. The school should also continue to work with parents and the community to improve the behaviour of the few pupils who persist in behaving badly.
