Ships' captains will be welcomed to the port at a Captains' Dinner at the Falmouth Hotel on the first day of the regatta when glasses of fizz will be handed out on arrival thanks to sponsorship by St Austell Brewery.

Regatta organisers are pleased to welcome St Austell Brewery on board as an event supporter, with the local brewery supporting the event in a number of ways.

The brewery will be celebrating its longstanding relationship with Port Isaac shanty singers the Fisherman's Friends by arranging for the group to perform at the Tall Ships opening evening in Events Square next Thursday.

The Fisherman's Friends will kick off the weekend celebrations with an hour long performance of new and traditional songs which no doubt will be enjoyed along the way with a few pints of St Austell Brewery's Tribute Ale being served in all three Regatta Entertainment Centres.

St Austell Brewery is also kindly donating drinks to quench the thirst of VIPs watching the Tall Ships Regatta Parade of Sail from Pendennis Castle on Sunday, August 31.

Jeremy Mitchell, St Austell Brewery marketing and communications director, said: “The 2014 Tall Ships regatta promises to be a wonderful and spectacular event for Falmouth and for Cornwall offering a chance to see the wonderful sailing ships in these amazing settings and also to enjoy the festivities and music in the town centre. It is a privilege for St Austell Brewery to be part of the regatta and that visitors and participants will be able to enjoy St Austell beers along the way.”

Sam Groom, event manager for Cornwall Development Company, added: “We are very grateful to St Austell Brewery for their support, demonstrating how local businesses can support the regatta through a whole range different ways.

“From the arrival of the ships with the Captains' Dinner to the send off of the regatta fleet in the Parade of Sail - glasses will be charged, thanks to St Austell Brewery.”
