The second shipment to All as One Orphanage in Sierra Leone is on its way onboard the Belt Ship management vessel Gypsum Integrity.

A&P Falmouth has been collecting sports equipment for several weeks and it was loaded onto the vessel in the early hours of July 1.

Penny Phillips, executive assistant at A&P Falmouth, who has co-ordinated the shipment said: “We were told that the children have no sports equipment and this was needed to ensure they keep fit and stay healthy, so the pressure was on to get everything together by the sailing date. We were also told that the kids would love anything to do with the England football team. With England knocked out of the competition early, and the kit tumbling in price, we were able to buy a load at half price.”

The local community, local football teams, a sports shop and A&P employees showed their generosity once more. Among the items sent out were football strips, an exercise machine, footballs, rugby balls, tennis rackets, badminton rackets, table tennis rackets, a pool table, exercise mats and baseball and cricket equipment.

The first shipment from A&P Falmouth to the All as One Orphanage was a container full of toys. It was taken out in November 2013 onboard CSL Argosy, a sister ship to Gypsum Integrity.
