What a pleasure it is going to St Mawes by boat where the friendly, helpful harbour staff bend over backwards to accommodate boat owners, writes David Barnicoat.
Harbour master Cary Cairns, his deputy Chris Roberts and harbour assistant Lawrence Bisouth couldn’t have been more helpful on Sunday when I called into the harbourside village for a few hours.
I can see why the working boat championships are held in St Mawes, where a warm welcome is always given, instead of being held in Falmouth.
Now that the FHC have re-branded their leisure arm Falmouth Haven, I am happy to report that a friendlier approach is gradually being adopted by staff rather than the, ‘give us your money – you can’t do that’ - rules and regulations attitude encountered in the harbour for many years.
