Bunkering and commercial shipping movements have increased this past month which must be very reassuring for the Falmouth Harbour Commissioners who have a massive pension deficit liability of close to £5 million to repay.
A&P Falmouth has a healthy stemming list until the New Year and bunkering activity has increased. There has been a downward trend in shipping numbers by as much as 21 per cent over the past year resulting in lower harbour dues and pilotage revenue for the commissioners. Total pension deficit liabilities the Falmouth Harbour Commissioners have to repay amount to nearly £4.8 million with £3.3 million owed to the Pilots National Pension Fund and £1.5 million to the Cornwall Council Pension Scheme.
