Aided by two harbour tugs the innovative eight-legged ‘walking’ jack-up barge (SEWP) Wavewalker 1 was taken to a layby position in the location of the old Kings wharf.

Pilot Alex Head positioned the platform close to the shore from where Wavewalker 1 “walked” the final few metres into position.

The barge, which has had a successful run of high profile contracts this year, will be jacked up in this location allowing easy access to the shore for her planned maintenance period which is expected to last several months.

The revolutionary platform is owned by Wavewalker BV, a joint venture between Falmouth-based Fugro Geoservices and Dutch dredging company Van Oord.
