Mylor-based Cockwells Modern & Classic Boatbuilding have been nominated for a coveted industry award for the new model in their popular Duchy Motor Launch series – the Duchy 35 – that was launched to critical acclaim at the Southampton Boat Show in September.

Choosing a new boat from the hundreds of craft on the market can be a bewildering process so every year, Motor Boat & Yachting magazine tries to make that task easier by refining the market into nine categories and picking one winner in each from a shortlist of finalists.

The Duchy 35 is one of eight exceptional designs to have been nominated in the Wheelhouse and Cockpit Cruisers category, the winner of which will be crowned at the magazine’s Motor Boat of the Year Award ceremony on Wednesday 10 January 2018.

Duchy Motor Launches are classically-designed, handcrafted, semi-production vessels that are created by Cockwells’ skilled craftsmen whose design flair, expertise and exacting standards are second-to-none. Built in low maintenance composites, these launches can be customised with a seemingly infinite number of optional extras: from teak decks and leather seating to bespoke crockery and glassware in tailor-made stowage.

Following the success of the brand’s flagship – the Duchy 27 – and the stylish open day boat, the Duchy 21 that was launched at Southampton last year, the Duchy 35 provides spacious accommodation for up to ten day guests or a luxurious weekend berth for two with a choice of single or twin cabin layout. The design also incorporates every conceivable comfort from a shower compartment with generous headroom and a full-width electric sunroof with all-round windows that take in panoramic sea views to a well-equipped galley and customised hardwood joinery, electronics and upholstery to meet the client’s specific requirements.

“We were delighted with the response to the Duchy 35 at this year’s Southampton Boat Show and this prestigious industry award nomination has added to our sense of excitement as we look forward to another year of record sales and growth,” comments Founder & Managing Director, Dave Cockwell. “Such an accolade from industry professionals is testament to the exemplary work of our design team in responding to the needs and requirements of our clientele, and our highly skilled craftsmen who bring those designs to life in meticulous detail.”

With a record-breaking number of UK commissions for the Duchy 35 already secured and in production, Cockwells are now finalising the new Scandinavian and Mediterranean options, due for release early in the new year.
