Two A&P Falmouth employees, Steve Williams and Richard Hodges have completed their John o’Groats to Land’s End charity cycle in aid of Cornwall Leukemia Trust.

Steve, a steelworker, and Richard, an electrician, took nine days to complete the ride during which time they encountered torrential rain and high winds. Although Richard injured his knee on day three, both cyclists, with their back up team of Rob Durrant and Patrick Williams, completed the 895-mile trip and raised more than £3,100 for their chosen charity. A&P Falmouth sponsored the team by providing a back-up vehicle and fuel for the trip. Penny Phillips, executive assistant at A&P Falmouth, assisted with logistics and was part of the support team.

Anne-Marie Wilkes, of Barclays, in Falmouth, raised £812 for the charity with £750 being matched through the Barclays £-4-£ Fundraising Scheme in the Community.

The Falmouth branch of the GMB Union donated £300 towards costs incurred, and the balance was collected through sponsorship by employees of A&P Falmouth, RNAS Culdrose and other local firms and organisations.
