Godspell to tour Cornish venues next month

Godspell takes Cornwall on a symbolic journey from isolation to community as it tours venues next month.

The show, brought to the duchy by Patch of Blue theatre company, was inspired by the parables, particularly from the Gospel of Matthew, and thus uses Christian teachings to embody the concepts of love, care and unity.

The parables and the story of Christ is taken out of its original context and thrust into a scene of urban poverty, where the disciples are from all walks of life yet all brought to the same state of desolation.

Set entirely in a junkyard, the show is enacted from random scraps of society, characters and objects. Performances take place at The Centre, Penzance on July 5; Epworth Hall, Helston on July 7 and Dracaena Centre, Falmouth on July 11 All shows start at 7.30pm. Tickets, £6, on the door or at www.brownpapertickets.co.uk.
