This half-term, the Eden Project will be celebrating Halloween with a cauldron full of scares and surprises for all ages.

Throughout the week, visitors can immerse themselves in Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s magical story Room on the Broom in a special tent, where they can make wonderful wands, create headdresses inspired by their favourite characters and help make their very own mud monsters.

Families can also take part in the site-wide trail to collect ingredients for a special potion.

If they succeed, and manage to avoid the fearsome dragon, they will earn |tickets to see Room on the Broom, along with behind-the-scenes extras.

In the Wishcraft Tent there will be a host of activities for older children, from protection charms and positive potion workshops, to pumpkin-carving |demonstrations and face painting.

Brave souls can dare to explore what lives inside the Creepy Hollow, listen to some dark tales and maybe even encounter creatures of the night.

In addition, Eden will open late for two special events. There will be fancy-dress fun at the Little Monsters’ Ball on October 29 and 30. Then Scream on October 31 and November 1 offers a spine-shivering night-time trek through the Rainforest Biome for fans of fear.

At the Little Monsters’ Ball, which costs £7 per person, witches, wizards and mini-monsters are invited to explore the haunted Biomes, sample some creepy cuisine and dance the night away in the Mediterranean Biome’s Olive Grooveyard.

Revellers will also have the opportunity to have their faces painted, slink around the ice rink and meet some amazing animals that dwell in the dark.

Scream will be strictly for the brave of heart, as the special event will see |participants navigate the Biome, and whatever may lurk beneath the undergrowth, using only the sounds and shadows of the jungle to guide them. Scream tickets cost £10 each and sessions will take place every half hour on October 31 and November 1 from 6.30pm until 11pm, except at 8.30pm.

Elsewhere, the site will be in high spirits with music in the Mediterranean Biome and ice skating, with the last slot taking place at 10pm.

For a truly chilling experience, visitors can also cut some shapes on Eden’s beautiful ice rink General skate sessions are available from noon on both Sundays and from 11am onwards for the rest of the half-term.

A 40-minute skate session costs £6 and penguin skate aids are available for young beginners for an additional £4.
