Visitors to the Eden Project this weekend, January 24 and 25, are in for two days of monkey business with |performances of a new puppet show.

PuppetCraft, one of Britain’s most acclaimed touring puppet companies, will perform Monkey! and also give Eden visitors the opportunity to take part in puppet-making workshops throughout the weekend.

Monkey! was adapted from an ancient Chinese story called Journey to the West by acclaimed poet and |former Children’s Laureate Michael Rosen. The show is performed with beautifully hand carved wooden |puppets.

Monkey! is a magical story about a mischievous monkey who can fly on a cloud, turn invisible and is in search of a great secret. This puppet show is |perfect for ages four and above.

The performance of Monkey! will be in the Core building on both days at 11am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm. Each |performance lasts an hour and then will be followed by an informal “meet the puppets” session.

As well as watching the puppet show, visitors can try their hand at the ancient art of shadow play.

The workshop provides a range of materials to allow people to create characters and bring them to life. These workshops will also be in the Core building on both days at 11.15am, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

Admission to Monkey! and the |puppet making workshops are |included in the Eden entry price. All the puppet performance activities have limited spaces and will be available on a first come, first served basis.
