The National Youth Training Choir is performing in Truro Cathedral on Saturday, August 15 as part of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, NYCGB, Summer festival 2015.

This festival is the biggest youth choral festival in the UK.

The concert comes off the back of a residential course that the singers participated in Truro School, and it is a celebration of the musical heritage of the west country. The young singers are performing in collaboration with the award-winning Quartet folk group featuring folk musicians Will Land and Niopha Keegan.

Niopha is very well known on the folk scene through her work with The Unthanks.

The National Youth Choirs of Great Britain meet twice each year, during the spring and summer holidays, for residential courses.

The concert also marks a significant step in the developing partnership between NYCGB and Cornwall Music Education Hub that was founded to develop choral opportunities and access in the region. Six members of the choir are from Cornwall and the programme is working to attract more.

The show starts at 6pm and tickets can be brought from hallforcornwall.co.uk.
