St Michael’s Mount is an iconic Cornish landmark and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the South West which is home to the St Aubyn family and 30 island residents.
Island Harbour Home from Tuesday, July 7, until August 31, brings to life the story of the vibrant community living and working on the island and highlight the many aspects of St Michael’s Mount that make the iconic tidal island so unique.
The spotlight will be on the everyday back stage activities, to share with visitors just what it is like to live on St Michael’s Mount; from being born there, to growing up and working on the island. There will be the rare chance for visitors to glimpse into the real lives of the people that live on the island.
There is a photographic exhibition curated by Mik Allerton, a longstanding island guide and professional photographer, and the free village tours, daily at 10am and 2pm except for Saturday, focus on the minutiae of island life, as well as showcasing the harbour and village.
Over the course of Island Harbour Home there will also be guest appearances by some of the boats that have played a vital part in life on the Mount over the decades; the Post Boat, the Penlee Lifeboat and the St Michael Amphicraft.
All activities and talks are located in the harbour and village, and are free. Check www.stmichaelsmount.co.uk for details.
