There is an opportunity to take a leisurely autumnal walk through the setting of the 1941 historical novel Frenchman's Creek by Daphne Du Maurier.

The Lizard's lead ranger Justin Whitehouse will be taking a group through the ancient Withan Woods at Frenchman’s Creek near Helford Village on Sunday, October 4 from 10am to 1pm.

This is an interesting and beautiful walk in a part of the Helford not previously accessible to the public.

As well as taking in the beauty of this ancient woodland, walkers will learn about management plans for the site, recently taken over by the National Trust, and the quay and some of the history of the site. The walk will begin and end at Kestle Barton, an ancient Cornish farmstead above the Creek, where there is a riverside café for refreshments.

Booking is essential. Please phone Sue Scott on 01326 340961 or 0777 232 3502.
