A one-day drawing workshop on the art and science of systematics is organised will be held tomorrow, Saturday, October 3 at Helston's CAST building.

Organised by Gemma Anderson as part of her ongoing project the Cornwall Morphology and Drawing Centre (CMADC), and Natural History Museum entomologist Dr Gavin Broad.

To introduce the workshop they will compare contemporary artistic and scientific approaches to taxonomy. Dr Broad will present the standard scientific route to classifying species and Gemma Anderson will present an artistic route through her own Isomorphology model.

Workshop participants will be offered the opportunity to explore the role of drawing in differentiating and describing species and to gain some insight into what an artist and a scientist observe differently before and after drawing. The workshop will then explore alternative approaches to ordering the natural world through drawing, using specimens from the Natural History Museum, London as subjects.

Workshop 11am to 4pm. Fee £ 15, concessions £10. Minimum age 16. Booking essential by emailing: studio@gemma-anderson.co.uk>
