Twelve gardens in Mawnan Smith are opening as part of Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) garden safari, on Saturday.

The safari is part of the charity's 25th anniversary celebrations in the form of a garden trail, which features some of the most beautiful and unique gardens in the region, some of which are not normally open to the public.

The garden safari around the twelve gardens in the village of Mawnan Smith will be taking place on Saturday, June 18, followed by a WI cream tea.

Admission onto the garden safari cost £5 for adults, children have free entry, and 50% of the entry fees will go to CHSW.

Mary Murfin, community fundraiser at CHSW, said: “Our garden trail is such a lovely way for people to support our hospices. We’re delighted that so many gardens are featuring in the trail and simply by visiting the gardens you are helping us to make the most of short and precious lives.”

Penmorvah Manor will be hosting a silver garden party as part of the CHSW garden trail on Sunday, July 3 from 2pm to 5pm. The manor, which has six acres of Victorian woodland garden, overlooks Maenporth beach.

Entry to the silver garden party costs £9 for adults and £6 for children, with a complementary glass of punch on arrival.

Other gardens opening in the area for the garden trail include Homestead Woodland Garden in Wendron on Sunday, July 24, and Two Quays House in Gweek on Saturday, September 17.

More information on the gardens participating in the trail is available online at www.chsw.org.uk/garden.
