SAILING is back, by popular demand, at the Durgan Regatta on Sunday, August 28.

There is a packed schedule on the water, which starts at 12 noon with an open handicap dinghy class, followed by rowing, swimming and kayaking events for all ages and an exciting new paddleboard race.

The novelty race promises plenty of mayhem afloat, while the highlight of the afternoon’s programme is the hotly-contested Land and Sea running and rowing challenge.

The competitive fun continues ashore, with children’s beach games and a sandcastle competition. Visitors can enjoy burgers, home-made cakes and a sale of home made produce, before trying their luck at the tombola and raffle and watching a demonstration by the RNLI inshore lifeboat.

Organising committee member Andrea Oakes said: “The Durgan Regatta raises thousands of pounds every year for local and national charities, including the RNLI.

“It’s a real spectacle for visitors and a not-to-be-missed calendar date for competitors – who range in age from tiny tots to veterans. We’re all set for a bumper event.”
