The annual Godolphin Bare Foot Festival will take place on Sunday August 21, from 10am to 4pm, at the National Trust’s Godolphin Estate.

As part of the trust's ‘50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾’ challenge, the team at Godolphin are encouraging families to go shoe free this summer. There’s barefoot painting, bare foot taster activities and barefoot trails suitable for everyone. There are also games and activities like belly dancing and soapy slide set up in the orchard.

Julie Hanson, west Cornwall ranger for the National Trust, said: “It’s hard to choose which bit of Godolphin’s Bare Foot Festival to look forward to the most; the children’s crafty activities, the textured trail, the barefoot fitness tasters and demonstrations, or the specialist folk offering treats and treatments. But the best thing is always enjoying all the smiles on the faces of all our bare foot friends, old and new”.

Kate Evans, visitor experience officer for National Trust Godolphin, added: “The Bare Foot Festival is a chance for people to think differently about the outdoors and get families to really value their time in the countryside together. This is a real celebration for everyone to enjoy and is a great event to come along too, even if you’re a bare foot beginner”.

For the whole month of August the trust is celebrating going barefoot. Families have been taking off their shoes and socks to take a walk around the garden following the carefully designed trail – making sure not to miss the multi-textured section in the woods.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout August there’s time to get crafty and make a barefoot bead or have a go at painting your feet. Further information on barefoot month and Godolphin’s Bare Foot Festival is available at www.nationaltrust.org.uk/godolphin or 01736 763194.
