There will be fun for keen swimmers and aquatic amateurs alike at a snorkel safari at Durgan on September 17.

The Helford Marine Conservation Group will be holding its annual summer barbecue and snorkel safari at the beach, near Mawnan Smith, from 3.30pm to 6.30pm.

As well as plenty of food, there will be a guided snorkel of the Helford eelgrass beds with marine experts from the Cornwall Wildlife Trust.

The beds are just one attraction among the river's rich and varied marine life, much of which can be seen close into the shore using a mask and snorkel.

All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and should bring their own snorkelling equipment. Booking is essential for the snorkelling as places are limited.

For more details, and to book for the guided snorkel or the barbecue please contact Helford coordinator Sue Scott on 01326 340961 or 07772 323 502.
