Families are invited to spend an eerie evening at Pendennis this half term as the landmark is transformed into a horrifying haunted castle.

Visitors can have a frighteningly good time on the spooky after hours tours listening to tales of ghostly apparitions, dastardly deeds and ghoulish goings on.

Assistant events manager, Charlie Evans, said: “Whether recounting the tale of Anna, a scullery maid who fell down the stairs to her death, or listening for unexplained footsteps in the Tudor Kitchen, our chilling storytellers’ tours are certain to send a shiver down your spine in the run up to Halloween, and make your visit to Pendennis Castle one you’ll never forget.”

Young spook spotters are also in for a treat during the day time as the Shiver me Timbers activities give them a chance to discover the stories of Pendennis' piratical past while embarking on a bone chilling quest to find a buccaneer's ill-gotten gains.

The Spooky Halloween Tours will be held on Thursday, October 27 and Friday, October 28. Family tours will take place at 5.30pm and 6.30pm, and an adult only tour will commence at 7.30pm.

Places are limited and can be booked online at english-heritage.org.uk/pendennis, or by calling 0370 333 1183.

The Shiver me Timbers half term activities will run from Monday, October 24 to Friday, October 28, 11am to 5pm, with a prize picked at 3pm each day for the best children's costume.
