The National Maritime Museum is hosting a Viking Yule Supersized celebration this weekend, with a chance for children to meet Old Man Winter.

Everyone is invited to celebrate Christmas with a difference at the museum on Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11.

A variety of Viking Christmas themed activities will be at the museum to keep all ages entertained, kicking off with a chance for children to meet Old Man Winter and receive a traditional Nordic gift at 12pm and 2pm on each of the days.

Rattlebox Theatre will also be at the celebrations performing their Beowulf puppet show at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 2pm, and families curious about Vikings can then meet real Vikings and find out what life was like for them in winter, before taking part in a Christmas themed Viking bear hunt.

The museum will also have various make and take activities so children can create Nordic winter crafts, including a Viking Yule goat to hang on a Christmas tree.

All activities over the Viking Yule Supersized celebrations are free with a museum entrance ticket, and this Christmas marks the last chance for everyone to see the Viking Voyagers exhibition as it closes on January 2.

During the Christmas holidays, Cornish based theatre company, Fleet of foot will be performing their Viking themed theatrical show at the museum on December 17 & 20 and January 2.
