Think you can save an alien from dying in just 45 minutes? Then Eden's new year attraction could be just right for you.

The attraction will be joining the escape room trend next month, inviting puzzle lovers to try one of the most perplexing team challenges ever with Eden Escape: Alien Rescue.

Starting on January 14, visitors will have the chance to take part in an interactive game where players are locked in a room for 45 minutes and have to solve a variety of puzzles and obstacles to save an alien from extinction.

The unique immersive experience runs on selected dates up to February 19, and is ideal for puzzle and gaming fans, explorers, team builders friends and families.

Escape rooms are growing in popularity for their mind-boggling challenges that test participants’ teamwork and puzzle-solving under time pressure and this is the first time Eden has introduced the experience.

Alien Rescue has been devised by one of the country’s top escape room design teams Dean Rodgers and the Tom Sawyer Effect, who worked on London’s premier escape game Time Run and The Crystal Maze live experience.

It is supported by the Wellcome Trust and linked to the Invisible You - Human Microbiome exhibition in the Core and a new Invisible Worlds exhibition opening at Eden in 2018.

Kate Francis, Eden’s programme producer, said: “We’re really excited to be opening a live escape room at Eden.

“In Alien Rescue players have to act as scientists to work out the cure to save an alien and its species from extinction. If they fail in their mission, the alien could be lost forever and the players could be trapped.

“It’s going to test your logic and teamwork and really get your adrenaline going as well as being educational and lots of fun.”

Eden Escape: Alien Rescue can be played by groups of three to five people. Two groups of five can also book to play at the same time. Please call the box office on 01726 811972 to enquire about this.

Tickets cost between £15 and £20 and give valid day entry to Eden on the day of the game if it is between Saturday January 14 and Friday February 10.

Bookings during February half-term, between Saturday February 11 and Sunday February 19 require an escape room ticket and a valid Eden admission ticket, annual pass, locals' pass or Eden membership.

The escape room is recommended for ages eight years and above. All children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. See full details on edenproject.com
