If you fancy stepping back in time and testing your sword skills and learning something about Tudor cookery this half term, the Pendennis Castle in Falmouth is the place for you.

From next Monday to Friday, the keepers of the castle are inviting young time travellers to step back in time over 400 years and imagine what life was like for the protectors of one of Henry VIII's finest coastal fortress.

History hunters will discover Pendennis as it was in the 16th century, meeting the castle’s Tudor cook as they prepare meals in front of a roaring fire in the castle keep, watching cookery displays, learning about the diet of Pendennis’ historical residents and helping prepare provisions for the troops.

Meanwhile, outside on the castle’s parade ground, visitors will be invited to take a lesson in sword skills and cannon drills as they discover how the Tudor troops practised in preparation to protect the castle from hostile forces.

As well as activities for children of all ages, there is also plenty to explore within more than six acres of castle grounds. With spectacular sea views, and interactive indoor exhibitions that bring Pendennis’ past to life, the castle is an ideal destination for all the family whatever the weather.
